Women's Tennis Defeated In GSAC Semifinals

Box Score

Indian Wells, CA- On Thursday, ACU Women's Tennis was defeated 5-0 by Westmont in the semifinals of the Golden State Athletic Conference Tournament held at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden.

In doubles play, Senior Autria Compton and Junior Maria Garduno had their chances in number one doubles but ultimately came up short 9-7.  The other two matches ended 8-2 WC.

Without any real wiggle room, Arizona Christian needed to mount a comeback in singles.  But Westmont earned the team win by winning the single matches on courts six and two.  The remaining went in the book as unfinished.  Senior Mikayla Morgan and Sophomore Elizabeth Kelley both won their first sets before their matches were called off unfinished.

The Firestorm fall to 10-11 on the season while the Warriors advance to the GSAC Tournament Finals with a record of 9-10.  ACU has a scrimmage scheduled with New Mexico State on Wednesday in hopes of qualifying for an at-large berth in the NAIA National Championships.
