Box Score Indian Wells, CA- No. 11 Arizona Christian Men's Tennis is headed to the GSAC Tournament Final for the second year in a row. The Firestorm advanced to the GSAC Tournament championship match after defeating Hope International 5-0 at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden on Thursday.
After sweeping doubles action, ACU only needed to win two matches in singles to secure the victory over the Royals (6-15).
Junior Alberto Lapiedra and Junior Daniel Superlano won the first match for ACU in the number two doubles match. Junior Enzo Douillac and Sophomore Jesse Miritello gave the Firestorm the 2-0 lead after falling behind 4-2 before rebounding to win 9-7 on court one. Senior Marcelo Balderrama and Senior Santiago Galeffi pushed the ACU lead to 3-0 after winning the number three doubles match.
Moving on to singles, Superlano (6-0, 6-3) and Senior Luka Stanivukovic (6-2, 6-1) won their singles matches to secure the victory for Arizona Christian.
The Firestorm (17-6) will play for the GSAC Tournament Championship on Friday against No. 16 Westmont- a rematch of the 2017 championship match. First serve is scheduled for 9:00 am.
