ACU WBB Faces Up Hill Challenge For Last Playoff Spot

Glendale, AZ- A game back with two games to play is the challenge ACU Women's Basketball faces as they head into their final homestand of the year.  ACU must win both games against William Jessup and Menlo.  The Firestorm will honor their five seniors about 15 minutes before Saturday's game.

Menlo- Saturday, February 29 at 12:00 pm (YMCA and Senior Day)

"The season comes down to the two games this week.  Everything is on the line and it will be fun to see how our team reacts.  If we win them both, we are in the postseason.  With everything this team has been through this season, it is remarkable we have put ourselves in this position!"

 

Arizona Christian

The Firestorm (10-17, 6-10 GSAC) beat Life Pacific 72-51 on Saturday.  Toni Davis topped everyone with 18 points and 12 rebounds.  Tee Watters added 13 points.  Baylee Slaughter had 10 points and 7 rebounds.

Des Gonzalez - 15.2 points, 6.5 rebounds

Toni Davis - 13.1 points, 3.2 assists

Baylee Slaughter - 7.9 points, 6.9 rebounds

Series Notes

The Firestorm own a slight 6-5 edge over William Jessup.  The Warriors won earlier this season.  Against the Oaks, the Firestorm are 5-6 after dropping their meeting in January.

 

William Jessup

On Saturday, the Warriors (17-10, 10-6 GSAC) lost 70-57 to Vanguard.  Miranda Zaragoza had 20 points and 13 rebounds.  JoeLyn Stirton and Creonah Bryant both had 12 points.  WJU currently sits fourth in the conference standings.

 

Menlo

On Saturday, the Oaks (11-14, 7-9 GSAC) beat San Diego Christian 76-67.  Kiara Brown produced 24 points and 14 rebounds.  Alexis Delovio added 13 points and 9 rebounds.  Menlo will play at OUAZ on Thursday.  The Oaks are sitting in the final sixth spot for the GSAC playoffs- one game up on ACU.
