Firestorm Blow Past Spirit 101-71

Box Score

Glendale, AZ. - The Arizona Christian University women's basketball team (7-4, 2-3 GSAC) continued their winning run as they blew past OUAZ (1-9, 0-5 GSAC) 101-71 on Thursday evening at Faith Arena in Surprise, AZ.

Thoughts from Coach:

After the game, Head Coach Rusty Rogers said, "Just like our game on Tuesday, we really did not take command of the game like we felt we could. Total credit to Ottawa as they got down early and elevated their intensity instead of folding. They gave us way more than we expected, and it took a big effort to get the victory!"

Game Details:

Despite struggling with turnovers early the Firestorm raced out to a 27-10 first quarter lead. The Spirit wouldn't go away though as they closed back within single digits midway through the second. The Firestorm regrouped though and closed the half on a 13-2 run to take a 47-29 halftime lead. The Firestorm continued to keep the Spirit at bay in the third as they extended their advantage to 71-52. The Firestorm left no doubt about who would win the game in the final quarter as Alyssa Alvarez and Graciela Roybal combined for 12 of the Firestorm's 30 points in the quarter as they breezed away with a 101-71 victory.
