Lopez's Hat Trick Powers Firestorm to 4-1 Win Over Benedictine Mesa

Mesa, AZ - The Arizona Christian University men's soccer program (3-0-1) continued their unbeaten start to the season as they took down Benedictine Mesa (0-3) 4-1 at Quail Run Sports Complex in Mesa, Arizona.

Thoughts from Coach:

After the match, Head Coach Ted Krzywiecki stated, "Benedictine came out very strong - they put us under pressure and created a few chances early. I was really happy with our 2nd half response and our defensive adjustments. Also, a fantastic night for German to get 3 and secure the result."

The Game:

After a flurry of chances by both teams the Firestorm opened the scoring as Esteban Franco and Savino Livornese played German Lopez through on goal where he finished for his fifth of the season at 25:08 to make it 1-0. The Redhawks fought back though and found the equalizer at 38:53 to make it 1-1 at halftime. The Firestorm came out energized after halftime and pushed forward looking for the lead. They would find it at 58:51 as Franco latched onto a deflected cross into the box and passed off to Angel Hernandez who calmly passed the ball into the bottom corner to make it 2-1. The Firestorm weren't done though as Franco launched a counterattack and played the ball to Mario Hanna who fed Lopez for his second goal of the game at 74:18 to make it 3-1. Moments later Lopez would quickly finish off his hat trick as he stole the ball in front of the net and calmly finished to make it 4-1 at 74:37. Andres Arce picked up a few key saves as the Firestorm prevailed 4-1.
