Alvarez Puts Up 30 As Firestorm Win Big Over Warriors

Glendale, AZ - The Arizona Christian University women's basketball team (20-8, 9-7 GSAC) won their fourth game in a row as they blew past William Jessup (13-14, 8-7) 83-48 in a big GSAC matchup on Thursday night at the ACU Events Center.

After the game, Head Coach Rusty Rogers said, "Very proud of how hard we played tonight. We were the team that wanted it more and it was reflected in the amazing effort we put forward. By far, our most impressive game this season defensively."

Game Details:

The first quarter was back and forth with the Firestorm taking an early lead before the Warriors closed the quarter on an 8-2 run as they took a 21-17 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Firestorm battled back to start the second as they tied the game at 27-27 midway through the second. The Firestorm defense came up with seven big turnovers and closed the half on an 8-2 run to take a 35-29 halftime lead. The defense for the Firestorm continued to shine in the third as they forced ten turnovers while the offense put up 24 points led by 12 from Alyssa Alvarez as the Firestorm took a commanding 59-37 lead at the end of the third quarter. The Firestorm continued to dominate in the fourth as they didn't let up outscoring the Warriors 24-11 as they won 83-48 led by 30 points from Alvarez to move into fifth place in the GSAC standings.

Graciela Roybal: 16 points

Kaycee Brown: 10 rebounds, eight points, four assists

Baylee Slaughter: 11 rebounds, four points

The Firestorm continue play at home as they take on Menlo in a GSAC matchup on Saturday, February 12 at 12:00 PM Arizona time in the ACU Events Center.
