Glendale, AZ - The Arizona Christian University women's basketball team's (20-9, 9-8 GSAC) winning streak came to an end as they lost a close defensive battle to Menlo (15-9, 10-6) 56-54 in a key GSAC matchup on Saturday afternoon at the ACU Events Center.

Game Details:

Both teams struggled from the field early in the game as the first quarter was back and forth until the Oaks took a 12-8 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Firestorm battled back to take the lead but the Oaks closed the quarter on an 8-1 run to take a 22-19 halftime lead. The Firestorm regrouped at halftime and took over in the third quarter as they opened on a 6-2 run to retake the lead and then pulled away for a 45-40 lead at the end of the third quarter. The Oaks battled back in the fourth as they took a 56-50 with a minute left. The Firestorm didn't give up though as they fought back to get within two and had a chance to win it at the buzzer but Alyssa Alvarez's three-point attempt bounced off the rim as the Firestorm fell 56-54.
