Inside the Box Score
A history book night for the Firestorm offense as they record a new single game best of 23 runs scored in one game, the highest in program history. Titialii tied the single-game home runs record with two tonight, and Ramirez inched closer to the top spot on the all-time hit leaders list. After falling behind 1-0 in the top of the first, the Firestorm offense took that personally, putting up 6 runs and two homers in the bottom half of the inning. That's when Santa Cruz found his rhythm, working his way through the Yotes' lineup, carving up hitter after hitter. ACU saw production from every spot in the order tonight, and every arm out of the bullpen was dialed in as well. Tonight's win moved ACU to 7-6 all-time on opening day games, and easily blew any expectations for this season out of the water.
Thoughts from Coach McDonald:
"I was really proud of how we set the tone for the year tonight. We got a lot of production from a lot of different players offensively and it was a great overall team victory. We will enjoy the first win of the season and wake up tomorrow ready for game 2."
Next for the Firestorm
