Inside the Box Score
To kick off the conference play in the second half of the season, women's basketball came out firing against the Warriors to secure their third GSAC win of the season. ACU jumped out to a quick 10 point lead in the first quarter, extending it 13 in the second quarter, and didn't look back. Alyssa Marin recorded her season high of 26 points as well as 11 rebounds. The Firestorm out-scored the Warriors in points in the paint, points off of turnovers, and bench points.
Thoughts from Coach Rogers
"This was a really important game for us. We did some things tonight that we have been working on all season but haven't seen in games - simple things that mean a lot. Communication, successfully changing up defenses on the fly and getting our interior players more offensive looks. With the exception of the third quarter, our defense really improved. We'll enjoy this while we can - for 24 hours!"
Next for the Firestorm
The Firestorm will stay in California and continue conference play against #14 Vanguard. That game will be played at Orange Coast College on Saturday, January 7th, tip off at 1:00 PM Arizona time.
