Elliott’s Pitching Gem Secures Sweep over TMU

Glendale, Ariz.- The Firestorm only need four pitchers to take two wins over TMU today, including Elliott's complete game win. The ACU offense kept stride to secure the first sweep over The Master's in the Coach McDonald era.

Inside the Box Score

ACU got to work early and often in game one today, jumping out to a comfortable 11 run lead in the 5th inning.  Griffin Swan got the scoring party started with a sacrifice fly in the 2nd inning, and ACU didn't look back from there.  Ramirez exploded back into the hit column with a triple off of the right field wall to score two runs and stretch the lead out to 8 before he was brought home by a sacrifice fly from Enrique Porchas.  Riley Quniton took over on the hill in the 8th inning, and despite some shaky defense behind him, closed out game one to secure the series win.

Game 2 was more of the same with the Firestorm offense bringing home three runs in the first, giving Elliott more than enough cushion to cruise through the Mustang lineup.  He would go on to strike out eleven, giving up only one hit in the process.  Brandon Lees crushed his first home run of the season in the 3rd inning, and Titialli brought the hit parade to an end with a moonshot home run in the 6th inning.  That marks his eleventh homer of the year as he continues to hunt down the single season record.  Elliott's win today means that all three Firestorm starters this weekend performed well enough to earn the decision in their respective games.

Next for the Firestorm

ACU will take a break from conference play for a mid week matchup with Park-Gilbert on Tuesday, February 28th.  That game will be played at Glendale High School with first pitch scheduled for 7 PM.
