Inside the Box Score
The Firestorm woke up hungry for a win today, and it showed in the first quarter with the team shooting 58% from the field, and over 83% from three. After Childress won the opening tip, ACU went on a 10-0 run to jump out to an early double digit lead. Deniece Ryan continued to shoot the ball well, knocking down two three-pointers in the first two minutes of the game. ACU cooled down in the second quarter, only making four field goals and one three pointer, but it was enough to maintain a five point lead going into halftime. The ACU shooters found another gear in the 2nd half, with Alyssa Alvarez and Halle Payne both getting into double digits scoring, joining Gunn, Roybal, and Kaycee Brown. Childress proved to be a deciding factor underneath the basket, contributing to the Firestorm's 26 points in the paint. Her 10 rebounds helped to limit Life Pacific's second chance points as well. The Firestorm lead grew to as large as 24 in the fourth quarter, but ACU will settle for a 20 point win on Senior Day.
Thoughts from Coach Rogers
"Very good 'bounce back' game for our ladies. They have consistently displayed a great ability to rebound from disappointing losses and their resiliency is amazing. Especially happy for our seniors Alyssa Marin and Olivia Childress. Unfortunately, Alyssa went down with an ankle but Olivia played with great poise and confidence!"
Next for the Firestorm
