Honolulu, HI. - The Lady Firestorm used a huge third quarter run to overcome a five-point half time deficit and won the first of two match-ups this weekend against NCAA D2 Chaminade Silverswords-
 
Head Coach Rusty Rogers had this to say immediately following the victory, "Outstanding win today for our program!  Graciela Roybal played her best game of the season, and that without hitting a bunch of threes.  Very proud of the effort today.
 
Down five points at halftime and after surrendering the first points of the third quarter, the Lady Firestorm went on a 10-2 run to take their first lead of the game, and they never surrendered it again. Roybal scored four of her twelve points on the run, and junior Emily Till scored six of her eleven points to get the Firestorm rolling.  And after struggling from the free throw line in their last outing, the Lady Firestorm went a perfect 8-8 in the third quarter and were 21-27 for the game.
 
The first half deficit might have been worse if not for clutch contributions from their bench.  Junior Lauren Gunn led the whole team with thirteen points, and the freshman trio of Alana Washington, Mae Washington, and Taylor Schwab all made winning plays throughout to keep the game in reach.  Schwab continued her strong play into the third quarter by hitting two three pointers extending the Firestorm lead to double figures. 
 
Said Coach Rogers, "We had everything going against us in the first half, including two personal fouls on five different players.  But our bench found a way to keep us in the game.  We had three freshmen out there battling for us.  Once we grabbed the lead in the second half, we never relinquished it.
