Salem, OR. – In their first back-to-back game of the season, the Lady Firestorm improved to 4-0 in what was largely a seesaw battle that saw the Firestorm finally pull away late. It was once again a balanced attack, but the team got particularly strong effort from senior
Graciela Roybal who hit on 7-14 three-point attempts enroute to a season high of 25 points. Junior Gunn backed her up off the bench and added 17 points of her own.
"Tonight's game was a real battel of momentum swings. But Graci had one of the finer games of her four-year career at ACU - her and Lauren were just not going to let us lose!"
Also contributing 17 points was graduate senior
Alyssa Alvarez who struggled from the field, but got the free throw line eight times, and converting on six of her attempts. Junior
Emily Till continues to dominate the glass and hauled down 13 rebounds to go with 9 points and 3 assists.
Senior
Kayla Clark had the all-around effort of the night pulling down 6 rebounds, dishing out 7 assists, and getting 3 steals. And finally, it was senior
Halle Payne scoring 14 points on 5-6 shooting and going a perfect 4-4 from the free throw line who was the fourth Lady Firestorm in double figures.
Coach Rogers concluded, "We got contributions from a lot of ladies and that really made the difference. It's great to take all four road games to start the season, and now we get a couple at home."
