Glendale, Ariz.- On Thursday, Arizona Christian started their GSAC play against Park-Gilbert.  After surrendering a penalty kick in the 11th minute, the Firestorm had chances but did not find the equalizer until the 81st minute when Felicia Apodaca scored her first goal of the season.

• The Firestorm had chances early including a sequence of saved shot, corner kick, saved shot, corner kick, and a shot high in just over a minute span 
• For Park, their second shot of the day resulted in their lone goal - a converted penalty kick at 10:35 
• ACU had opportunities not completed and remained behind 1-0 at the break
• The teams let fly seven shots each in the first 45 minutes
• Defensively, ACU only allowed four second half shots
• Wonderly was at her best when she faced a breakaway and cut down the angle perfectly to deny a driven shot into her body
• The Firestorm saw shots hit the crossbar a time or two and the post another couple of times
• Finally, during a scramble in the box, Underwood pushed the ball out of the pile to Apodaca who finished the equalizer
• Both teams attempted one more shot in the final six minutes but the match remained deadlocked until the final whistle

The first conference road test of the season will come on Saturday when Arizona Christian will play at Benedictine Mesa.  The match will be played at Lehi Sports Park in Mesa at 6:00 pm.
