The Firestorm Take The Series After Two Wins In Doubleheader

Glendale, Ariz.- ACU's offense erupted  in both games of their doubleheader, out-slugging Saint Xavier in a 14-8 win in game one and a 7-2 win in game two. With both of these victories, coach Joe McDonald earned his 200th career win as a head coach. Congratulations, Coach!

Inside Game One
  • In the first inning, Tarver hit a 2-run home run, driving in Edmonds. 
  • Ivy reached first on an error by the first baseman, and advanced on the throwing error and Kiaunis also advanced on the throw, as Vielguth scored on the play. ACU led 3-0 at the end of the first inning. 
  • In the bottom of the second inning, after Petersen hit a double and Edmonds was walked, Tarver singled down the right field line, driving in both Edmonds and Anderson (pinch-running for Petersen) and earning 2 more RBI. ACU extended their lead 5-0. 
  • Going into the third inning, the Firestorm scored another 4 runs as Petersen singled up the middle, earning 2 RBI after scoring both Logan Sanders and Ivy. Later that inning, Anderson scored on what seemed to be a wild pitch that went past the catch. Lastly, Tarver singled through the left side, earning an RBI as he drove in Edmonds.
  • In the fourth inning, ACU scored another 2 runs as two batters each scored on wild pitches. ACU extended their lead 11-3. 
  • In the sixth inning, Logan Sanders homered to left field, earning 2 RBI after Ivy scored. Edmonds also singled down the right field line, earning an RBI after Beckworth scored in the play. The Firestorm made the score 14-5. 
  • After a couple hits in the eighth inning, the final score was 14-8.

  • In the fifth inning, Edmonds hit a sacrifice fly to right field, earning an RBI after Ivy scored. 
  • Tarver hit a 2-run home run to right center, driving in Anderson. ACU led SXU 3-0. 
  • In the sixth inning, the Firestorm added 2 more runs as Logan Sanders hit a single and earned an RBI after Vielguth scored. Anderson grounded to second base and Kiaunis scored on the same play. ACU extended their lead 5-2. 
  • In the seventh inning, Fukofuka stole second, advanced to third base on the throwing error and also managed to score in the same play. 
  • In the eighth inning, Garcia doubled to center field, earning an RBI after Ivy scored. 
  • The final score of this game was 7-2.
