Herrera Dominates Game One, Firestorm Split With Redhawks

Mesa, Ariz.- Stepping back into GSAC play saw Dayna Herrera throw a complete game shutout while leading the way offensively as well in game one.  The Redhawks controlled game two to force a split on Friday afternoon.

Inside Game One
  • Leading off game one, Miles singled, and then scored on a double steal attempt
  • With no margin for error, Herrera allowed single runner traffic every inning but did not allow a run
  • In the seventh, Herrera doubled home Miles for the first insurance run

"Dayna threw a solid game one and our offense came to life in the seventh to support her.  Defense was excellent all day.  It was a struggle to get timely hits on the day, and that opened the door for two big innings from Benedictine that gave them an edge in game two. "
