Seniors Celebrated As Firestorm Sweep Buccaneers

Glendale, Ariz. - After celebrating their seniors pre-match, NAIA ranked number five Arizona Christian handled their business as they swept Pak Gilbert on Friday evening.

A slight switch in the waves saw the fives play in the first wave and Alyssa Robles and Kapri Espinosa rolled as they only allowed ten points in two sets. The senior tandem of Brianna Boeckman and Eliana Cho also cruised as they gave up 20 points including just nine in the second set at the twos. Wrapping up the first wave, Emee Fellens and Aaliyah Malden earned the straight sets win at the fours.

Wave two allowed Haley Brown and Riley Brown to play on their home sand one last time and they did not disappoint as they rolled 21-15 and 21-18. The only match to see a third set was the threes. After splitting the first two sets, Emily Katzer and Jaiden Zeis pulled off the 16-14 third set win.

With construction under way for their on-campus sand courts, the Firestorm are hoping Friday was their last time to play a home single head-to-head match off campus.

Next Saturday, the Firestorm will travel to California to face NCAA Division II foes Concordia Irvine and Vanguard at the OC Great Park. Those matches will serve as the final tuneup before the GSAC Championships held at Huntington Beach the following weekend.
