Huntington Beach, Calif. - Day one of the GSAC Championships saw Arizona Christian split their two matches competing in the sand of Huntington Beach State Park.
As the number two seed, Arizona Christian faced off with the number three seed The Master's on Thursday morning. Â
Wave one started with the twos and fours. Brianna Boeckman and Eliana Cho claimed the first team point with a straight sets win at two. At the fours, TMU forced a tie by winning the third set by the slimmest of margins 15-13.
Haley Brown and Riley Brown were victorious in straight sets at the ones for a 2-1 edge. But the Mustangs claimed the threes for the tie before claiming the match with a three set win at the fives.
Moving into the elimination bracket, the Firestorm faced off with fourth seeded Hope International in the afternoon.
Boeckman and Cho cruised again to earn the first point with a 21-10 and 21-12 win at the twos. The fours pair of Emily Katzer and Jadien Zeis had to go to the third set but won 15-12 to move ACU ahead 2-0.
Looking to claim the team match, Abigail Nelson and Emee Fellens won 21-16 and 21-12 at the threes to seal the deal. After HIU won at the fives, the Browns earned a three set victory at the ones to cap the scoring.
