The Firestorm Rolls to Series Sweep Against Embry Riddle

Prescott, Ariz.- ACU turned in a dominant offensive display, sweeping a doubleheader on the road against Embry-Riddle with a staggering 25-1 win in game one and a solid 9-1 victory in game two. 

The Firestorm erupted for 28 hits and a season-high 25 runs in the opener, scoring in every inning but the fifth and ninth. Trey Tarver led the charge, going 4-for-5 with two home runs, six RBIs, and five runs scored. Kane Kiaunis also had a huge day at the plate, finishing 4-for-6 with a home run, five RBIs, and three runs scored. ACU's 10-run third inning blew the game wide open, highlighted by Kiaunis' three-run homer and a two-RBI double by Andrew Ivy. Jared Anderson added a home run of his own, while Luke Killinger launched a two-run homer in the eighth. On the mound, Eastyn Culp improved to 8-1 with five solid innings, allowing one run on seven hits while striking out six. The ACU bullpen combined for four shutout innings to close it out. 

ACU stayed hot in the nightcap, scoring in five of seven innings to secure the sweep. Kimo Fukofuka had a standout performance, going 2-for-3 with a three-run home run, four runs scored, and a walk. Jared Anderson kept his big day going with a 4-for-4 effort and three RBIs. Payton Robertson earned the win, improving to 3-0, after tossing five scoreless innings and scattering just three hits with five strikeouts.

  • The Firestorm had a huge fifth inning as they scored 5 runs. ACU extended their lead 8-0. 
  • In the seventh inning, Anderson doubled to left field and earned an RBI after Fukofuka scored.
