Firestorm Split the Series with OUAZ, Earn The Second Seed

Surprise, Ariz.- ACU came up short in game one, losing 3-2 but erupted for 11 runs in game two as they dominated OUAZ to split the series to end the regular season play.

In game one, the Firestorm nearly pulled off a thrilling comeback, but a walk-off homer in the bottom of the ninth lifted OUAZ to a narrow 4–3 win. Down 2–1 entering the ninth, the Firestorm showed grit and clutch hitting. Jaylen Edmonds tied the game with a sharp RBI single up the middle, and Kane Kiaunis followed with a go-ahead RBI single to center, giving ACU a 3–2 lead. However, the lead slipped away when OUAZ connected on a walk-off home run. Despite the loss, ACU's bats were hot, racking up 12 hits, with Sean Garcia leading the charge at 3-for-4. Eastyn Culp pitched a strong 8.0 innings, allowing just two earned runs while striking out seven. The Firestorm also swiped four bases and played clean defense with no errors.

In game two, the Firestorm responded with authority, exploding for 11 runs on 11 hits to cruise past OUAZ 11–2, earning a statement win and a key GSAC split. After tying the game 1–1 in the fourth, ACU put together a five-run fifth inning, capped by Kane Kiaunis's two-run double and Jared Anderson's RBI double. Kiaunis wasn't done—he tripled in the sixth to drive in another run, finishing the game 2-for-4 with three RBIs and just a homer shy of the cycle across the doubleheader. The offense stayed hot with three more runs in the sixth and two in the seventh, including a two-run double by Tanner Vielguth to seal the win. Trey Tarver added two hits, two RBIs, and a sac fly, while Andrew Ivy scored twice and swiped a bag. On the mound, Payton Robertson improved to 4–0, limiting OUAZ to two runs over five innings of work. The bullpen duo of Chay Esqueda and Sean Wiese shut things down late, combining for two scoreless frames.

With the win, ACU improved to 37-12-1 overall and 16-8 in GSAC play, and earning them the second seed in the GSAC Championship tournament.
