ACU Splits Doubleheader Against The Master’s

Glendale, Ariz.- ACU and the Master's split a dramatic doubleheader, featuring late-inning comebacks, home runs, and a barrage of offense in Game Two.

After falling behind 7–1 through two innings, The Master's mounted a stunning comeback, scoring nine unanswered runs to stun the Firestorm. ACU jumped out early thanks to a five-run second, capped by a three-run homer from L. Sanders and a two-run double by K. Kiaunis. But the Firestorm couldn't capitalize on their 14-hit output, stranding eight runners. 

In game two of the doubleheader, ACU responded emphatically in the nightcap, scoring 15 runs in the sixth inning alone to cruise to a 19–4 victory and earn the split. Trailing 4–3 in the fifth, the Firestorm turned the game into a rout, taking advantage of wild pitching, key hits, and multiple Mustang errors. Trey Tarver sparked the onslaught with a two-run double, while Jaylen Edmonds and Kane Kiaunis each added RBI singles. ACU scored nine of their 15 sixth-inning runs with two outs, sending 20 batters to the plate. Jackson Hohensee picked up the win in relief, tossing a clean sixth inning.

  • In the bottom of the first inning, Kiaunis singled to center field and earned an RBI after Edmonds scored. Fukofuka hit a single up the middle and also earned an RBI after Tarver scored. ACU led 2-0. 
  • In the second inning, Kiaunis doubled to right center and earned 2 RBI after both Edmonds and Marcus Sanders scored. Shortly after, Logan Sanders hit a 3-run home run to right center. ACU extended their lead, 7-1. 
  • However, the Master's came from behind and took the lead in the sixth inning. 
  • ACU lost the first game, 10-7.

  • In the bottom of the first inning, Kiaunis reached on a fielder's choice and advanced to second and Edmonds scored. ACU led 1-0. 
  • In the second inning, Ivy hit a sacrifice fly to center field, earning an RBI as Tarver scored. ACU extended their lead 2-0. 
  • Garcia also hit a sacrifice fly to right field and earned an RBI after Tarver scored. ACU led 3-0 at the end of the third inning. 
  • In the fourth inning, Anderson scored on a wild pitch. ACU extended their lead, 4-2. 
  • In the sixth inning, the Firestorm batted around their lineup three times and scored an incredible 15 runs. 
  • ACU won the second game, 19-4.
