A Dominant Sweep Over Sun Bears

Long Beach, Calif.- Meeting Grace- a first year program- on Saturday was to the liking of Arizona Christian as they produced 24 runs over the two games.  Ashley Madonia had a big day as she produced two doubles and a triple while Nadia Landeros contributed a four RBI day.

  • ACU jumped out to a 9-0 lead, gave up two but answered with two more
  • Aliana Giddings walked with the bases load in the first to force in the first run
  • Garcia and Herrera delivered RBI singles to account for the two runs in the second
  • The third saw ACU put up a six spot
  • RBI singles from Garcia and Landeros both drove in two
  • Henry doubled and Grubb singled to create the 9-0 advantage
  • Grace answered with two runs in the third
  • Hailey Wackowski walked with the bases loaded and Henry hit a sac fly to wrap up the scoring

  • Bradford singled home the first run of the game
  • The Sun Bears responded with two in the first for their only lead of the day 
  • Miles cashed in Taylor Fogleman and Rachel Martin to put ACU back in front for good
  • The Firestorm were a home run short of hitting for the cycle in the fourth- Landeros doubled, Madonia tripled
  • Following two runs for Grace, McCracken and Madonia had bookend doubles as the Firestorm scored the final four runs in the seventh
  • Snowden pitched into the sixth to earn her first win of the season

Up Next
The sweep concludes any road games for the Firestorm for the remainder of the regular season as ACU is now scheduled to play 14 home games.  Four of those games will come on Friday and Saturday against Embry-Riddle with a 4:30 start time.
