Glendale, Ariz.- For the third consecutive week, Dayna Herrera has been named the GSAC Softball Pitcher or Player of the Week, presented by Athletic Solutions, continuing her dominant start to the 2026 season for Arizona Christian University.

Herrera powered the Firestorm in a doubleheader sweep of Nelson University-Arizona on Feb. 27, delivering at the plate and in the circle.

Offensively, the junior went a combined 5-for-8 (.625) across two games, driving in three runs and scoring once. She tallied two doubles and posted an impressive .875 slugging percentage and .625 on-base percentage for the day. In game one, Herrera collected two hits and an RBI. She followed that performance with a three-hit outing in game two, adding two RBIs and two doubles to pace the Firestorm offense.

Inside the circle, Herrera was equally commanding. The right-hander tossed a complete-game shutout, allowing just five hits over six innings while striking out seven and issuing no walks.  She needed only 73 pitches to secure the 7-0 victory and improve to 1-0 on the season with a spotless 0.00 ERA for the outing.

The six scoreless innings turned in by Herrera came right in the middle of 23 straight scoreless innings (three full games) delivered by Firestorm pitching.

Herrera's consistent excellence on both sides of the game has made her one of the most impactful two-way players in the conference. Her third straight weekly honor underscores her leadership and all-around dominance as Arizona Christian continues conference play.
