A 15-minute stretch of game time spanning the end of the first half and into the second half was the deciding factor, as German Lopez scored goals on each side of halftime to put ACU in the lead.

"Today was a very good start for us in the conference, and it is great to be on this side of the game against Hope for the first time in a long time. Hope did a great job in the first half making things difficult on us, but I thought our guys adjusted well early in the second half. We could have finished the game a little better, but it was a good team performance overall."
