PHOENIX, Ariz. - The Arizona Christian University men's soccer program opened its season with a 1-0 exhibition win over Bethesda University of California (0-1) Friday evening at the Reach 11 Sports Complex in Phoenix, Ariz.

Thoughts from Coach: 

After the season-opening victory, Head Coach Andrew Belleman said, "It was great to be able to compete after so long.  The guys have been looking forward to this for a long time and they played with great energy and a positive mentality.  There were some really good moments in the game, but I was really proud of how the boys played for each other. The team spirit was great tonight and I am looking forward to spending the next couple of weeks on the road together."

The Game: 

After a slow first half in which neither team could get on the scoreboard, ACU's Abraham Espinoza connected with teammate Austin Crable not long into the second half, who scored at the 58:01 mark to give the Firestorm the lead.  ACU never looked back, holding Bethesda to just three shots on-goal in the second half en route to earning the season-opening victory, 1-0.
