Box Score Surprise, AZ - The Arizona Christian University men's soccer program (10-3-2, 4-3-1) fell 1-0 in OT to #23 OUAZ (11-3-1, 4-2-1) on Saturday afternoon at Spirit Field in Surprise, AZ.
Thoughts From Coach:
After the match, Head Coach Ted Krzywiecki stated, "Today was a great match and a lot of fun. Our guys played really well and I felt that we were going to find a goal as the match went on. Ultimately it was a wonder strike that made the difference…and that is the beauty of soccer. It could have easily been us on the other side of it. I'm looking forward to next Saturday."
The Game:
Esteban Franco and Brandon Camacho both had early chances for the Firestorm but they were unable to breakthrough. On the other side of the ball the Firestorm defense led by goalie Eddie Delgadillo held the Spirit off the board as the game was 0-0 at halftime. The second half was similar as both teams created chances but neither the Firestorm nor the Spirit were able to breakthrough as the score was all tied 0-0 at the end of regulation. Savino Livornese had the first chance of OT but was unable to score while the Spirit converted their first opportunity moments later as they won 1-0. With the loss the Firestorm become the #5 seed in the GSAC playoffs which will begin next Saturday.
