Box Score Glendale, AZ - The Arizona Christian University men's soccer program (5-0-1) began a stretch of four games at home with an 8-1 thrashing of Bethesda University of California on Tuesday afternoon at the ACU Football Field as they continued their unbeaten run.
Thoughts from Coach:
After the match, Head Coach Ted Krzywiecki stated, "Today we executed very well in front of goal. We started the game sharp and were focused throughout the match. Because of this we were able to convert on many chances. I'm pleased with our guys approach and the fact that we are learning, growing and improving as a unit. We have a great test ahead of us on Thursday and we need to refocus on our preparation for the next match in under 48 hours."
The Game:
The Firestorm stepped on the gas from the whistle, and it paid off as they opened the scoring with German Lopez breaking through the backline and feeding Esteban Franco who finished into the bottom corner to make it 1-0 at 7:00. The Firestorm would add another just a few minutes later as Rhett Livingston cashed in on a bouncing ball in the box off a corner kick to make it 2-0 at 11:35. The Firestorm continued to tear apart the Flames defense as Lopez got in behind and scored off a great feed from Ethan Molter to make it 3-0 at 19:39. Ricardo Rivas then set up Lopez for his second of the game at 21:23 to make it 4-0 which is where the score stood at halftime. No sooner had the second half started then the Firestorm put another in the net as this time Franco found Lopez for his hat-trick to make it 5-0 at 46:08. Then just a few moments later Rivas and Franco would team up to feed Lopez for his fourth of the game at 47:22 to push the lead to 6-0. The Flames would finally break through at 55:38 to make it 6-1. The Firestorm continued to attack as they struck for their seventh of the game at 62:17 as Molter crossed the ball into Franco who finished to make it 7-1. Then right before the final whistle Mario Hanna found Austin Crable off a free kick to make it 8-1 at 88:58. Andres Arce only recorded one save but it was an amazing one at full stretch as the Firestorm prevailed 8-1.
