Box Score Gilbert, AZ - The Arizona Christian University men's soccer program (2-0-0) continued its hot start to the season on Saturday evening with a 4-0 shutout win over Park-Gilbert (0-2-0) at Paloma Sports Complex in Gilbert, AZ.
Thoughts from Coach:
After the match, Head Coach Ted Krzywiecki stated, "Our guys earned a nice result with their focus and effort today. Park made it very difficult to break down, but a few moments of magic from our forwards made the difference. I'm looking forward to building on what we've learned about our group this week."
The Game:
The Firestorm opened the scoring as German Lopez scored his third of the year off a great feed from Esteban Franco at 16:25 to make it 1-0 which is where the score stood at halftime. The Firestorm continued to wear Park-Gilbert down in the second half as Franco got on the board at 52:39 thanks to a great pass from Angel Hernandez to make it 2-0. Sebastian Nicula then powered in a header off a corner kick from Aiden Abbitt to make it 3-0. The Firestorm weren't done though as Alex Oquita scored his first of the season off of a rebound from Lopez late in the game to make it 4-0. Andres Arce stood tall in net throughout the game as he grabbed his first shutout of the season as the Firestorm won 4-0.
