INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
From the opening whistle the Firestorm controlled both ends of the field all night. OUAZ's brutal physicality did nothing to deter the Firestorm from creating countless opportunities at the net. The first Firestorm goal came in the first half - a rare sight for ACU - in the 19th minute of play. Abbitt slipped through the Spirit defense to get the ball into the middle right in the path of Alves who with a full head of steam was able to hammer the ball into the back of the net. In the second half of play ACU's quick play frustrated OUAZ leading to three Yellow Cards in just 30 minutes. Again the Firestorm were able to take advantage of their speed when Molter took the ball almost the entire length of the field before getting it into the box at the feet of Ballesteros, who connected with Abbitt who sent it past the Spirit keeper to put the game away. ACU shutout OUAZ twice this season and currently sits on a three game win streak over the Spirit. Gallardo secured his 6th shutout of the season as the Firestorm defense once again proved to be up to the task.
