Coach Rusty Rogers' Thoughts

"Another week of new challenges for our young team," Coach Rogers said. "Both Park and WNMU are definitely up-and-coming programs and we have to travel to them, so we will have our hands full. We are at a good place for this point of the season but are anxious to get our team fully healthy. That may not happen for the foreseeable future. We will have to continue to rely on our main core of players and keep working to get the needed contributions from others."

Park University Gilbert

The Park University Gilbert Buccaneers (1-0) opened up their 2023-24 season on November 3rd, defeating SAGU American Indian College 105-36 at home. Five players posted double-digit points, including Kayla Schroeder who led with 16 points, three assists and three steals. Their most recent competition was on November 8th, the Buccaneers falling 97-58 in an exhibition against Idaho State University. Again, Schroeder led the way, amounting 17 points on 6-of-11 shooting. Jayla Reliford put up 12 points, going 6-for-6 from the free throw line.

Western New Mexico University

The Western New Mexico University Mustangs (2-0) pulled out two narrow victories this past weekend to begin their 2023-24 campaign. WNMU opened the Conference Challenge (November 10-11) by defeating New Mexico Highlands 45-42 and then handed a 69-60 loss to Fort Lewis College. Following a difficult shooting night (15-for-65) against New Mexico Highlands, the Mustangs rebounded with a 43.3% performance. Diamond Moores leads WNMU in points (19) and rebounds (16) through two games. Sydney Wright and Brooke Rodgers each have amassed five combined assists.
