Tucson, AZ – The Firestorm Track & Field program took a small group out to the Pima Indoor Invitational on Saturday afternoon and came away with one more individual qualifier for the NAIA Indoor National Championships.
Sophomore
TaHaj Acoff who has been close to the NAIA standard in the Shot Put for much of the indoor season, finally broke through with a new personal best and program best throw of 53' 6.5" which is also a "B" standard for national qualifying. Also performing on Saturday was
Mikhail Browne who recently qualified for the Indoor Nationals as well in the Long Jump. Browne jumped near his season best with a jump of 23' 8.75". On the lady's side, freshman
Rylan Rhodes also long jumped and hit a mark of 17' 3.5" which was good for fourth overall at the meet. And sophomore
McKenna Rogers notched 10' 4.25" to finish second in the Pole Vault.
On the track, freshman
Tanner Johnson continued his impressive freshman campaign with another personal best in the 600 meters of 1:22.53. He then joined the men's 4x400 team in running a season best time of 3:22.72.

Next On the Schedule
The Firestorm qualified three individuals for the NAIA Indoor National Championships in Gainesville, FL February 27 – March 1. The rest of the team will have the next few weeks to recoup before starting their outdoor racing schedule at the Spring Break Fiesta hosted by the University of Arizona on Saturday March 8.
