Box Score SANTA CLARITA, CA – The 11th ranked Master's College Mustangs stormed by the Arizona Christian Firestorm, by a final of 8-0 on Saturday afternoon in Santa Clarita, California.
With the loss, the Firestorm fall to 2-12 overall and 0-7 in GSAC play, while the 11th ranked Masters College improves to 10-4-1 overall and 5-2-1 in GSAC play this season.
The Mustangs were led on Saturday by their highly touted offensive; which put up four goals in each half. But The Master's College received an even better performance in goal, by keepers Tita Garcia, Kaylee Poffek and Jessica Zubia; who combined for the shutout.
The Master's dominated all afternoon long, outshooting Arizona Christian 27-1. The Mustangs also managed 12 corner kicks in the match to just one for Arizona Christian.
The Mustangs got on the board quickly on Saturday, as just two minutes into the match Natasha Coyle found the back of the net to give The Master's College the early 1-0 lead. TMC scored their second goal of the match just four minutes later when Devon Goff found Katie Farris in front of the net for the Master's second goal; giving them a 2-0 advantage.
The Master's College would score another goal in the 16th minute and then again in the 27th minute to take a 4-0 lead into halftime.
In the second half, the Mustangs struck early and often with their first goal coming just four minutes into the second half; scored by Katie Farris, her second goal of the match.
After another goal by the Mustangs in the 50th minute, Katie Farris would complete her hat trick; scoring her third goal in the 52nd minute to give The Master's College a 7-0 lead.
Elvia Contreras scored the eighth and final goal of the match in the 64th minute to give The Master's College an 8-0 victory over the Firestorm.
The Arizona Christian women's soccer team returns to action this Tuesday, when they host William Jessup University at 4:30pm at the Rose Mofford Sports Complex. The women will be followed by the ACU men at 7pm against the William Jessup men.
