Box Score FULLERTON, CA – The Hope International Royals defeated the Arizona Christian Firestorm on Saturday afternoon in men's soccer, by a final of 3-0.
With the loss, the Firestorm fall to 3-13 overall and 0-9 in GSAC play, while Hope International University improves to 13-3-1 overall and 8-1 in GSAC play this season.
In the 34th minute, the Royals struck for the game's first goal, when Raul Pinon fired a shot and the rebound came to Jesse Perez for his fourth goal of the season. HIU would then take their 1-0 lead into halftime.
In the second half, Hope International scored just two minutes in, when Zachary Williams' throw in pass went to Martin Meza, who scored his second goal of the season as he squeaked the ball inside the right post.
Hope International put the game out of reach for good in the 85th minute, when Zachary Williams sent a crossing pass to Alexander Echevarria who found the far post for his second goal of the season.
ACU was outshot in the game 17-9. Firestorm goalie Jorge Arauz, played the entire match and allowed all three goals while making five saves.
The Arizona Christian men's soccer team returns to action this Monday, when they take on the University of Antelope Valley at 12:30pm. The Firestorm will then conclude their 2014 season on Saturday November 1st, when they host Vanguard University at 1:30pm, which will be preceded by the women's game at the Rose Mofford Sports Complex on field two.
