Box Score FULLERTON, CA– The Arizona Christian Firestorm women's basketball team fell with two seconds left; thanks to a jumper by Krystyn Jacobs in the paint to give the Hope International Royals a 76-74 victory over the Firestorm in Fullerton, California on Tuesday night.
With the loss, the Firestorm fall to 4-17 overall and remain winless in GSAC play at 0-8. With the victory, the Hope International Royals improve to 13-9 overall and get back to .500 at 4-4 in GSAC play.
In the first half, the Firestorm trailed at the half by a score of 36-28. ACU shot 35% (11-for-31) from the field and shot 20% (2-for-10) from beyond the three-point arc; while shooting 4-for-7 (57%) from the free-throw line. The Royals on the other hand shot 40% (14-for-35) from the field and shot 40% (4-for-10) from beyond the three-point arc; while shooting a perfect 100% (4-for-4) from the charity stripe.
The second half turned out to be the better half for the Firestorm, as they outscored Hope International 46-40; while shooting 57% (16-for-28) from the field. ACU shot 75% (3-for-4) from beyond the three-point arc and shot 84% (11-for-13) from the free-throw line. Hope International improved on their shooting percentage in the second half, shooting 48% (14-for-29) from the field. The Royals shot 62% (5-for-8) from behind the three-point arc and a terrible 53% (7-for-13) from the free-throw line.
In the losing effort, the Firestorm had three players in double-figures with Coulter Bowlen leading the way with 20 points and 11 rebounds.
The Firestorm women will head home to Phoenix this weekend to begin their three-game homestand. Up first is a meeting with conference rival San Diego Christian. Opening tip for the women's game is scheduled for 2pm this Saturday at Fultz Memorial Gymnasium. The men's game will follow the women's game with a scheduled tip time of 4pm.
