Box Score

The Firestorm overpower the Flames

Both women's teams came out fired up and ready to play, it only took eight and a half minutes for the first goal to be scored. ACU struck first, Makenna Newman passed the ball to Serenity Masterson, who put it in the back of the net. That would be the only score in the first 45 minutes of play, ACU up 1-0. After a much needed break in the heat the teams went back at it. Play was back and forth for the first 10 minutes, then a pass from Kelsey Stipek to Marissa Stevens resulted in goal number 2 on the day at minute 54. Bethesda continued to battle, Jasmine Ramcharan scored a goal 5 minutes later cutting the ACU lead in half 2-1. In the 80th minute Makenna Newman would put the game away scoring with an assist from Dakota Wilkinson, Dakota would then score a goal of her own, the final ACU 4, Bethesda 1. After the game Coach Berrios had this to say about the game, "Bethesda came out with intensity which resulted in them dictating the pace and put us on our heels for the first 15 minutes of the game. Our women stayed focused, confident and settled in, which ultimately led us to a 4-1 win. We still have much work to do as a team, but we are off to a positive start."
