Close Game Turns Ugly

Box Score

Atherton, CA- Down 1-0 four minutes in and then 2-0 through 73 minutes, Arizona Christian suddenly saw their match with Menlo on Tuesday turn ugly as they surrendered three goals in four minutes to fall 5-0.

The Oaks (10-2-1, 4-0-1 GSAC) accounted for the first four shots of the contest in about a ten minute span including one into the net just four minutes from the opening whistle.

Freshman Juan Mora hit the first ACU shot of the day on goal.  Senior Luis Tapia went wide with the next Arizona Christian shot.

By the break, the shot count was 8-4 in favor of Menlo with Freshman Joshua Stewart making five of his eight saves.

Junior Hasani Nunez got into the shooting action that required a save three minutes into the second half.

Come the 55th minute, the Oaks netted their second goal.

Following another shot by Mora, the Firestorm forgot to play defense as they gave up the third goal in the 74th minute.  Then three and a half minutes later Menlo tacked on their fourth.  Just 30 seconds after that MC's fifth goal found the back of the net.

ACU tried to answer with three more shots- including one by Freshman Alex Segura and another by Freshman Andrew Archuleta- without success.

On Friday, the men will host St. Katherine's at Rose Mofford Sports Complex at 7:30 pm.  The seniors of the squad will be honored prior to the match.
