Phoenix, AZ- A strong pitching effort was wasted on Friday afternoon after errors and misplays cost the Firestorm as they fell 5-3 to College of Idaho.  Junior Jonathan Nunnally, Jr. homered.

Senior Dillon Eaves cruised through the first five innings allowing just a runner on an error in the second and a single in the third.  He also had nine strikeouts through five innings.

In the sixth, a throwing error on a sacrifice bunt lead to an unearned run for the Coyotes (1-1).  COI added a run in the seventh to knock Eaves out.

After putting at least one runner on base in five of the first seven innings including leaving the bases loaded in the seventh, the Firestorm (3-2) saw Junior Matt Mara reach on an error and score on a single by Junior Michael Dunnebecke to make it a 2-1 game.

In the top of the ninth, an error and an apparent catchable non-caught ball in the outfield opened the doors for College of Idaho to plate three runs.

Facing their final three outs, Arizona Christian tried to rally as Senior Jacob Rodriguez doubled just inside the third base bag followed by the two run homer of Nunnally over the left field wall.  But two pinch hit attempts resulted in a ground out and a strikeout to end the game.

The Firestorm and Coyotes will conclude their four game series on Saturday with a doubleheader beginning at 10:00 am.
