Firestorm Slay Trojans

Box Score

Phoenix, AZ- On Friday, Arizona Christian won all four quarters as they beat Taylor (IN) 84-65.  Junior Courtney Christmas paced the Firestorm with her second double-double of the year- 23 points and 11 rebounds.

Thirteen days off seemed to have no effect on the Firestorm (10-2) as they came out and hit five of their first seven shots.  But the Trojans (9-6) were even hotter as they knocked down three of their first four shots to build an 8-6 lead.

A jumper from Sophomore Toni Davis followed by a three pointer from Junior Makayla Enders gave ACU an 11-8 cushion.  Another bucket from Davis and three pointer from Christmas capped the 10-0 run that propelled ACU in front for good.

Taylor closed within two before the quarter's end but crept no closer.

At the break, Arizona Christian held a 39-34 edge with Christmas the top Firestorm at nine points and six boards.

Quarter three was the lowest scoring 10 minutes for both teams (18-11) before the Firestorm and Trojans made the fourth quarter their best scoring effort (27-20).

Enders (15), Junior Jada Willingham (14), and Davis (10) joined Christmas in double digits.  Enders just missed a triple-double as she delivered 10 steals and eight rebounds with her 15 points.

On Saturday, the Firestorm will close out the 2017 portion of their schedule when they host Olivet Nazarene to conclude the ACU Holiday Classic.  Tip-off against ONU will come at 2:00 pm.
