Box Score Glendale, AZ - The Arizona Christian University women's soccer program (2-3-0) won its second game in a row as they took down Benedictine Mesa (1-2) on Saturday morning at home on the ACU Football Field.
Thoughts From Coach:
After winning their second in a row Head Coach Courtney Nash had this to say, "I am super proud of the ladies. On a difficult day weather wise, they still worked and executed our game day goals and it was that disciplined execution which led to a victory. This result shows just how much this team has grown in two weeks time."
The Game:
The Firestorm got on the scoresheet first in this one as Adriana Contreras took advantage of a bad pass by the Redhawks goalkeeper and launched a long-range strike to make it 1-0 at 11:39. Then just a few moments later at 12:54 Irene Ledezma made it 2-0 off a great pass from Cami Mercado to push the lead to 2-0. The Firestorm weren't done though as Stori Karis stole a pass at midfield and launched a long range bullet into the top corner to make it 3-0 at 28:11. The Redhawks never gave up though and pulled a goal back at 34:18 to cut the Firestorm lead to 3-1 which is where the score stood at halftime. The Firestorm defense shutdown the Redhawks in the second half as they went on to win 3-1.

The Firestorm continue their season on the road as they head to Flagstaff, AZ to take on Northern Arizona University in an exhibition game on Thursday, September 16 at 7:00 pm. Then they head to Oklahoma for a two-game road trip where they will first take on the University of Science & Arts of Oklahoma on Thursday, September 23 at 5:30 pm.
