Waddell, AZ– The Arizona Christian University baseball team (24-21, 11-16) opened up their four game series against Menlo (13-22-1, 7-17) with a 5-4 extra inning loss on Thursday evening at Canyon View High School in Waddell, AZ

Series Notes:

With the loss the Firestorm's record against the Oaks falls to 6-12.

The Game:

Griffin Henry got the start pitching 4 1/3 innings allowing four runs on six hits while striking out five and walking three. Evan Massie took the loss in relief pitching 1 inning while allowing one unearned run on two hits while striking out three.

The Firestorm opened the scoring in the bottom of the second inning as Caleb Beach delivered a two out RBI single to put the Firestorm on top 1-0. That lead wouldn't last long though as the Oaks homered in the top of the third to tie the game 1-1. The Oaks would then take the lead on another home run in the fifth as they took a 4-1 lead. Chase Martinez would come in from the bullpen and limit the damage while the Firestorm fought to get back in the game.

After two walks and a single loaded the bases with two outs Riley Quinton would work another walk to draw the Firestorm within 4-2. Kurtis Roberts would then be hit by the next pitch to score another Firestorm run to narrow the deficit to 4-3. Then in the eighth inning the Firestorm would load the bases with no outs for Robby Campillo who delivered an RBI single through the left side to tie the game 4-4. Neither team though were able to find a winner through nine innings as the game headed to extras. Unfortunately the Oaks would score the go ahead run in the 11th inning as the Firestorm fell 5-4.
