As per usual the Firestorm came out blazing hot peppering the goal with shots in the first half.  Mercado had two really good looks at a goal but missed by just inches both times.  ACU controlled possession of the ball almost exclusively in the first 20 minutes of play.  In the 25th minute, the Mustangs played a great ball into the middle from a corner kick and were able to find the back of the net early.  Mustangs would close out the half with a 1-0 lead.  Coming back from halftime, ACU wasted no time getting more shots on goal, eventually scoring one at 53:00.  Cruz dissected the TMU defense dribbling through the back line and hammering the ball home from the top of the box.  That goal would mark the end of scoring for the night despite a few very close attempts from the Firestorm including a shot from Rachel Clark from midfield that just barely missed high.  Firestorm battled back to tie the conference opener 1-1.

Next Match:

Women's soccer will be the first of four home games played by the Firestorm on Saturday, October 1st.  They continue the conference play against the Warriors of Westmont College kicking off at 10 AM, followed shortly after by the men's team.  Westmont's women's soccer team is currently ranked #12 in the country, and coming off of a match against OUAZ.
