La Grande, OR. - On November 1st, in the Eastern Oregon dual meets, the first match ACU grappled was against Clackamas Community College; they represent the NJCAA league. The Firestorm should promise and poise while being steadfast in their competitive greatness.
The next day the Firestorm went against Eastern Oregon University. Both matches were very competitive and a great way to start the season. On both days the Firestorm fought hard and proved that they belong with anybody in the nation. Even though the firestorm came up short in both meets, they showed heart and toughness.Â

COACH MICHAEL BUTTERFIELD'S THOUGHTS
  Â
"This weekend we traveled out to conference opponent Eastern Oregon University for our first duals and tournament of the season. Beginning the year with some stiff competition in the form of multiple time national champion NJCAA team Clackamas, and Eastern Oregon was a good way to get our guys wrestling tough to start the year. We fell short on Saturday, but showed up ready to get after it at the Mountaineer Open on Sunday. Seven of our wrestlers ended up placing, headlined by senior wrestler Zion Longsine walking away as the champion at heavyweight. Our guys wrestled extremely well, including true freshman Sean Archuleta who had 2 pins and 2 tech falls on his way to placing 3rd in his first ever college tournament. We are excited to get a lot of our freshman and sophomores on the mat for the first time this season at the Bill Musick Open hosted by Fresno City College."
