Trujillo and Galasso Place in Falcon Open

Wichita, Kansas - In their first tournament of the season, two Firestorm wrestlers put on a show at the Falcon Open hosted by Friends University. Out of several competitors, Mikee Trujillo and Leonardo Galasso got on the podium for Arizona Christian, representing well in the away tournament.

"Today our guys competed at the Falcon Open in Wichita, KS at one of the toughest NAIA tournaments in the country to start the season. Our guys competed extremely well, as we only lost 4 total matches in the elite bracket in the first two rounds of the tournament. Michael (Mikee) Trujillo put the country on notice by pinning the #9 ranked wrestler in the country from Embry-Riddle, followed by a major decision victory over the #11 ranked wrestler in the country from Missouri Baptist before getting injured in the finals. Leo Galasso took 3rd at 174 lbs, with his only loss coming from the eventual champion. Leo had 3 tech falls en route to his 3rd place finish, dominating in all of his wins. Nico Piña had a phenomenal first tournament for the Firestorm, going 4-2 and only losing to two top 15 ranked wrestlers in his first collegiate tournament. We are extremely proud of our guys and the way they competed this weekend. We are thankful for tough matches to begin the season and the ability to make adjustments heading into the next couple of weeks of competition.
