Women’s Swim Team Sets Four Program Records at PCSC Meet

Los Angles, Calif.- The Women's swim team traveled to Los Angeles, CA to compete in the Pacific Collegiate Swim and Dive Championships, a swim meet which features both NAIA and NCAA Division 2 competition.  The Lady Firestorm set program records in three relays, and one individual event, and racked up a total of 258 points to finish tenth overall in what was arguably the best team performance at the PCSC in program history.

The three relay records came in the 800 Freestyle which featured Kateryna Kashyrina, Eva Garraux, Callie Drefs, and Abbey Lair.  In the 200 Freestyle, Lair and Drefs were joined by Elle Moir and Claire Eilers to reset the record books.  And in the 400 Medley relay, Courtney Pequin was able to join the fun and assist Eilers, Garraux, and Lair in setting the third and final relay record of the weekend.   In addition to her efforts in the relays, Drefs also reset her own program record in the 200 Freestyle.

The team will now wait till Friday to find out who qualified for the NAIA National Championships in Elkhart, IN March 5-8.

Thoughts from Head Coach Brad Hering
"The Lord granted our charismatic women's swim team with 3 ACU team relay records and 1 ACU individual event record! Coach Rob and I experienced the best PCSC conference meet ever with so many personal best times!  National qualifiers officially will be announced Friday, and we will have at least 5 women qualifiers for Nationals."
