Redding, Calif.-The Arizona Christian University wrestling team etched their name in the program's history books at the Cascade Collegiate Conference Championships this past weekend. The Firestorm turned in their strongest performance to date at the prestigious tournament, marking several significant milestones along the way.
Leading the charge was
Sean Archuleta (29-6), who became the first ACU wrestler ever to win a Cascade Conference championship. Competing at 133 pounds, Archuleta dominated his way to the finals with a technical fall victory in the quarterfinals and a hard-fought decision win in the semifinals. The championship match proved to be a thriller, with Archuleta prevailing over Corban University's Blake Runion in overtime, 11-8.
The Firestorm placed an impressive five wrestlers for the national tournament, tying a program record set in 2021. ACU's

"I want to start by saying that I could not be more proud of the Firestorm wrestling team after our conference tournament this weekend," said head coach
Michael Butterfield. "We made history in many different ways, and it's because of our guys' hard work and dedication to the process throughout this season."
Butterfield added, "We are so thankful for everyone that has supported our team this year, and thank God for protecting them throughout the season and allowing them to compete to the best of their abilities when it matters."
