Glendale, AZ – The Firestorm Women's Track & Field program took a short drive down 59
th avenue to Glendale Community College where the GCC Invite was held over the weekend. The GCC Invite featured both GSAC and Junior College competition and was the team's final opportunity to compete and receive marks before GSAC Track & Field Championships.
Strong performances included the women's 4x100 meter relay team featuring
Jade Roberts,
Georgia Gomez,
Anabel Johnson, and
Rylan Rhodes. They won the event and bested their previous school record with a time of 49.68. Later in the evening, Roberts set a new personal best in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.33 and was the top performer for the team in that event.
In the field,
Cheney Gomez continued her string of new personal bests, this time in the high jump reaching a mark of 4'6". And mostly known for her pole vaulting,
McKenna Rogers tossed the javelin 84' 7.75" to achieve a new personal best for herself.

Next On the Schedule
The Firestorm will take the next week off before traveling to Aliso Viejo, CA where the GSAC Track & Field Championships will be held at Soka University. The meet runs Thursday April 24 through Friday April 25.
