Glendale, AZ- For the third straight race, junior
Alison Unruh was the first lady Firestorm to cross the finish line, and with the help of freshman
Alexi Till, lead her team to a second-place finish at the second annual Firestorm Classic.
Unruh finished 5
th overall in a time of 23:37 and was followed by freshman Till who finished 9
th overall in a time of 24:34. The third and fourth point scorers were senior
Kaesha Guillaume (24:41) and sophomore
Priscilla Celis-Saldivar (25:18), while freshman
Brennen Stephens closed out the scoring by finishing 16
th overall and running two seconds faster than she did two weeks prior with a time of 27:46. Till and Celis-Saldivar also improved their times from two weeks ago helping the women's cross country team to cut down on the time difference between them and #4 Embry-Riddle University.
Thoughts from Coach Fahsholz
"The course ran slower today than the one we ran on two weeks ago, but three of our top five ladies still managed to run faster times, and the other two were not far off. This team has gotten stronger with each race, and if they can continue that trend, we are going to be in position to do some great things at the end of the season."
